Section 2. General FAQ

2.1 Can I download Ximulator Demo directly from your website?

We currently do not support the demo version download due to its large file size (Over 400MB). However, we have been working on software compression so that we can provide a compact version of Ximulator optimized for the download without sacrificing its graphical quality.

2.2 How do I activate the Ximulator after Installation?

Enter your Serial Number when the Ximulator registration status screen comes up. The serial number is included in the CD-ROM.

Section 3. Technical FAQ

Although most Windows Me, 2000, and XP versions come with all system files necessary to run Ximulator, a user can find one or more such components are removed or corrupted on the system while running other software or possible by virus.

The followings are technical issues reported by users and all are related to your Windows setting rather than Ximulator Program; you may contact Microsoft if you need further assist.

3.1 Programs closes after displaying "run time 13 error."

For Win95/Win98 users

You may not have MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) installed on your system, or one or more MDAC files are corrupted as it often happens to other system files.

  1. Find MDAC installation files in Ximulator CD-ROM (located in CD-ROM:\\Third Party\), or Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?productID=&freetext=mdac&DisplayLang=en.

  2.
  3. Download MDAC2.5 (or Higher Version) as well as DCOM98 and install both files (For Win95 users get DCOM95 Instead).

  4.
  5. Make sure you install Dcom98 first and then MDAC2.x. These two files will update all your system files to run Ximulator and will resolve your problem.

For Windows ME/2000/XP

Although these Windows versions packaged with pre-installed MDAC, at times some system files get corrupted or missing. Reinstalling MDAC will resolve the problem

Download latest Core MDAC version depending on your Windows version at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?productID=&freetext=mdac&DisplayLang=en and install it.

3.2 I installed the software, but I am getting an error that reads, "ddtut2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Problem is not related to Ximulator program but your Windows DirectX Setup.

The popup error message was most likely generated by Windows due to corrupt DirectX files, missing system components, invalid setup, or a problem your graphic card.

Since there are various factors that can cause such problem and this is a technical issue to be resolved by Microsoft support, we are unable to provide a definitive solution.

However, in many cases, the problem could be resolved by reinstalling your DirectX Runtime you can download from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=2 according to your current Windows version.

3.3 How do I know which version of DirectX I have on my Operation System?

Ximulator runs with DirectX 7 or higher which most Windows-based PC are equipped with. In order to check your current DirectX version and see if it's working properly;

  1. Click your "Start" button and select "Run."
  2. Type "dxdiag" in the prompt.
  3. Normally the popup window will display your current version of DirectX and reports problems, if any.

*If nothing shows up, you have to reinstall DirectX.

3.4 I Still receive Runtime 13 Error Despite MDAC and DirectX are correctly installed.

In rare cases, the problem can be related to other system object such as DirectX 7 for Visual Basic Type Library (dx7vb.dll) and Visual Basic 6 Runtime.

Manually reinstalling these files are beyond scope of our technical support.

We advise you to consult with an expert because we are not responsible for lose of your system configuration.
